Faculty Bio

Kathy Ockaskis was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and baptized at St. Vincent College. Mrs. Ockaskis graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan with a Michigan teaching degree specializing in math and science. She also obtained a master degree in elementary education from Michigan State University. After teaching public school for twelve years, she devoted her time to raising her son and daughter. Her son, Alec, is a percussion music student at U of M and her daughter, Anna, attends West Catholic High School. Kathy’s husband, Todd, is an architect at Paradigm Design. As a family, they enjoy outdoor activities and quiet moments at home. Prior to teaching first grade at Sacred Heart Academy, Kathy served as the reading and math intervention teacher for seven years at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School before desiring to return to classroom teaching. Teaching young children to rejoice in the love of God, the beauty of our world, and the goodness of our works is a vocational calling Kathy embraces.
