Homework:

Due 9/8/16 9/13/16 Read Prologue (p. vii – xvi) and Chapter 1 (p, 2-23).  Answer Questions (p. 23-24) #2, 4, 9, 14, 15, 17, 23, 24.   These are reading comprehension questions, so you should be able to answer them as you read through the chapter.  Remember to use complete sentences when answering the questions

9/22/16  No homework due.  We will be finishing the lab in class.

9/29/16 – No homework due.  This will be a problem-solving day.  Bring in questions from the homework.  We will also work some additional problems in class in preparation for the test.  Chapter 1 Test will be assigned.

Due 10/13/16  Read Chapter 2, Sections 2.5-2.8 (p. 36-47; skip “Gravitational Field” and “Tides”).  There will be a Quiz with 2-3 Conceptual Questions based on the reading, and 1 Application Question solving a problem using Newton’s Laws.  Bring your Astronomy Book.

Due 10/25/16 Astronomy Star Sketch Assignment. Check out the Clear Sky Chart to see whether there is good observing weather. On the chart, in the rows labeled “sky conditions”, find a column of blue blocks – you can probably observe then.  Chapter 2 Review – come with questions about concepts or problems.
