January 18th, 2017, Second Week of Ordinary Time
Father Peter announced on January 8th that he has been assigned to a new parish, Our Lady of Consolation in Rockford effective next Friday, the 27th of January. With this news comes a flood of emotions for all of us as we reflect upon the impact Father Peter has had on our families, students, and staff.
What a gift his presence has been to each of our families throughout his ministry at Sacred Heart Parish and Academy. His desire to seek the Lord first is apparent in all he does, and we are grateful for his example of virtue and ultimate love for the flock he tends. We are grateful that Father Peter will remain in the Diocese of Grand Rapids, and all of us look forward to encountering him in the future.
This Sunday, please join us from 3:00 to 4:00 pm for a “Farewell, Father” Gathering in the church basement. We petition all of you to keep Father Peter, and Sacred Heart Parish and Academy in your prayers throughout this transition.

Bring in Boxtops with the expiration of 2017 and up, all nicely cut if you are able, and collect 3,000 Boxtops. There are collection sheets that you can also glue the boxtops on to keep track of them. This makes processing the Boxtops easier. Print off collection sheets here, and have your kids gluestick them on. Stay tuned in to see how we do. Go team SHA!
Handbook Highlight: Social Networking
“We live in an age where instantaneous communication is the norm. Most of this occurs through social media and many parents and students use social media sites to communicate. As you may be aware, social media can embolden and tempt participants to make abusive remarks they might not otherwise state to a live audience. The instantaneous nature of this type of communication makes it a risk. Faculty, parents, and students may be held accountable for what they publish regarding the school, member of the staff or students at Sacred Heart Academy regardless of where the communication originated. This may include the permanent removal of students from the school. Also, it is not appropriate for teachers or other staff members to communicate with students using this medium.
Sacred Heart Academy does have an official Facebook page. We will use these modes of communication to share information relevant to Academy life and its mission. We are aware that there are also non-official social networking pages that share information about the Academy. Please note that Academy officials do not moderate non-official SHA pages. Accordingly, families rely on information on these sites at their own risk.”
